Pinkman wins the 90th Hambletonian Final
August 8, 2015~Pinkman and driver Brian Sears took over the lead at the half-mile marker and went on to defeat Mission Brief and Yannick Gingras in a world record 1:51 clocking to win the $1 million Hambletonian final for 3-year-old trotters on Saturday (Aug. 8) at Meadowlands Racetrack.
Pinkman broke the world record of 1:51.2 he equaled earlier in the afternoon. Uncle Lasse (Donato Hanover) put up a :27.2 opening quarter and stable mate The Bank (Donato Hanover) edged to the outside and circled to control.
Pinkman was given marching orders entering the backstretch and cleared the lead heading to the half. Mission Brief (Muscle Hill) commenced her first-over bid through a :55.2 half. The two elimination winners and two favorites were nearly stride for stride at three-quarters in 1:23.2. Mission Brief was drifting in the stretch while Pinkman had the advantage at the inside, and he easily held the advantage over Mission Brief, Uncle Lasse and the Bank in 1:51.
Owned by Christina Takter, John and Jim Fielding, Herb Livermanand Joe Mc Clelland, trained by Jimmy Takter, and driven by Brian Sears, Pinkman paid $5.60 to win. Trainer Jimmy Takter also became the first trainer to win the Hambletonian Oaks and the Hambletonian in back-to-back years.
