Colt Trot In the first Crown elimination for rookie trotting colts and geldings, the James Campbell-trained Possess The Will notched his third straight victory with a 1:56.1 effort. With driver Tim Tetrick in the bike, the bay sat behind fractions of :28.3 and :58.3 before the front-sitting Quit Smoking Now (Dave Miller) broke stride in the final turn. Possess The Will inherited the lead before the three quarters in 1:27.1. At odds of 3-1, Possess The Will scored the one and a half length victory over the 9-5 favourite, Magic Tonight (Ron Pierce). Prestidigitator (Sylvain Filion) finished third. Filly Trot The Ray Schnittker student, Check Me Out, delivered as the 1-5 favourite in the lone Crown elimination for two-year-old trotting fillies. For A Dancer (Jeff Gregory), who was undefeated in her previous eight lifetime starts, was the early leader, clocking the opening quarter in :29. Driver Tim Tetrick and Check Me Out came first-up to take command before the half in :58.1. The pair didn’t look back as they hit the three quarter pole in 1:27.2 and stopped the teletimer in 1:55.4, two and a half lengths ahead of For A Dancer.
