Breeders Crown Countdown-August 27, 2010

Colt Eligibles Score

By Frank and Ray Cotolo

Freehold and the Meadows held state-bred affairs on Aug. 27, highlighting the careers of a few Breeders Crown-eligible colts.

At Freehold, Flex The Muscle, a member of the sterling soph-colt-trot crop of 2010, won the New Jersey Sires Stakes Final for the division as the soft second choice to Break The Bank K, who finished fourth.

Take My Picture was second and Peace Bridge was third. Other eligibles in the field were Senor Glide, Rap’s Legacy and Flashback.

At The Meadows there were four Pennsylvania Sires Stakes divisions for frosh-colt trotters worth $68,000-plus each, resulting in upset wins for a quartet of eligibles.

Del Cielo broke his maiden in this race for trainer Buzzy Sholty and paid $14, beating "Crown"-hopefuls Just In, third, Up Up And Away and Americangeneration.

Live Jazz woke up the toteboard at $28.40, winning another split over Kash’s Cantab, second, and Big Rigs. Mythical Hall and Runaway Duke were also in the field.

Luckycharm Hanover scored to pay $11.40, with another of five eligibles in the field, Orlando, coming in second. Triomphe De Vie, Slickster, Way Back When and Bungalow Bill all failed to hit the board.

In the other split, High Pan Tolerance won, paying $9. Fellow eligibles Not Nice, Buffalino Hanover and Just A Glidin were unsuccessful.
